| Situated west of main land Italy, Sardinia
is sometimes referred to as the ‘island
of light’. A true island of natural beauty,
Sardinia has said to have some of the cleanest
beaches and possible due to its long summer season
and warm spring it’s possible to find beaches
that aren’t over crowded.
Yachting Holidays in Sardinia
Yachting is one of Sardinia’s biggest holiday
attractions because of its beautiful and varied
coastal views, beaches and inlets. Porto Cervo
is considered to be the main resort for yachting
in the Mediterranean with a out standing marina.
If you aren’t fortunate enough to own your
own yacht its possible to charter a yacht from
the marina. A day out on the open waves with a
skipper will cost around 140 pounds which can
include food. Chartering a boat enables you to
see Sardinia from another angle to experience
views and picture perfect scenes while relaxing
upon a luxury yacht.
Water Sports and Activities
I have already mentioned the vast water sports
that Sardinia offers its tourists. Its clean white
sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are just
as impressive as a Caribbean island. Kite surfing
and wind surfing are well suited to the island
and wind conditions suiting kite surfing are blowing
almost 10 months of the year. For those that fancy
a spot of diving there are schools and centres
with qualified teachers so that you can start
exploring the under water world that awaits you.
Flights to Sardinia
The main international airport of Sardinia is
Alghero Airport located approximately 12 kilometres
from its town in North Sardinia. If you have booked
a flight in to Alghero it would be well worth
taking a few hours out and exploring the town
and its medieval village and the Malaspina Castle.
There are two other airports in on the island,
the Cagliari situated in Southern Sardinia and
Olbia to the South East of the island. Although
most package holiday flights to Sardinia
fly to and from Alghero Airport.
Climate of Sardinia
In my opinion the best time to book your holiday
to Sardinia for would be between May and October.
The two hottest months of its climate occur in
July and August, where Sardinia receives an average
temperature of around 31 Celsius (that’s
88 Fahrenheit). Sardinia winter months are not
particularly cold. If you are interested on a
walking holiday with milder temperatures perhaps
March or April may be a more suited climate and
spring will have brought the flowers to bloom.
