beaches and coves for surfing. The Southern most
shore being favoured highest for scuba diving
because of its calmer water. You will find that
the waters have a visibility of around 50 feet

sea life below the surface.

Weather conditions do vary from year to
year. It’s said that weeks of sun have been
known in the winter. The over all average temperature
is around 75 degrees year round. The climate means
that there’s no need for a wet suit as the
waters are warm and clear.
The varied terrain creates ideal landscape for
hiking and trail sports such as mountain biking
with many trails and paths to navigate. In fact
only 10% of the island is accessible by road the
rest can only be explored on foot making it a
camping and adventure paradise.

If you are planning to camp during your stay
then there are lots parks where you can set up
base. Bear in mind that permits are needed for
all camp sites weather it’s a state park
or country. In a country park a permit will cost
you around 3 dollars per person per night. Under
18’s are free. If it’s a State park
that you are camping in, permits are actually
free and allow you to stay at any one park for
5 consecutive days in a row.
Those that enjoy a round of golf or two whilst
holiday 'ing can find one of Kauai‘s eight
golf courses rated some of the best in Hawaii.
There are excellent established courses in some
resorts and even the public aren’t shabby
at all. Two of the courses on the island are designed
by whom else but Jack Nicklaus.
South Shore - Best for scuba
diving due to its calmer water. A common place
to see green sea turtles. If you are a beginner
or un-experienced diver there are dive certified
centers to train you up. The south also has excellent
beaches and is home to the National Tropical Botanical
Garden which well worth a visit.
A must see when traveling to Kauai South shore
is the ‘Spouting Horn Blowhole. Where the
rock pools shoot a blast of sea water shoots up
into the air with each tidal wave hitting the
shores.
Coconut Coast - Coconut coast
is a hot spot for boating and kayaking up the
Wailua River.
North Shore Resort - Rugged
mountains, beautiful beaches and magnificent sea
cliffs cover the North coast of Kauai. If you
are looking for a safe beach to relax on then
Anini Beach Park provides one of the safest, as
it’s protected by a reef.
There’s a historic light house at the most
northern point. Where you can observe an array
of nature and wildlife, such as migratory birds
visiting from colder climates and humpback whales
in amongst the waves.
Travelling to and around Kauai - Hawaii
Lihue Airport located on the southeast coast. Check
with your hotel to see if they supply an airport
shuttle to your hotel. Renting a car is always another
option. The islands scenic roads can then be explored
at your own pace. Kauai also offers a bus service
to and from fixed locations around the island.
