Fuerteventura Holiday Beaches

Due to its size and shape holiday makers have an unprecedented 150 beaches to choose from. There is and abundance of sandy stretches of beach that sunbathes will find they have found a piece of paradise. Don’t be put of by its size considering that it is bigger than its neighbouring island of Lanzarote. Fuerteventura has been less developed than Lanzarote with many more quiet secluded beaches to choose a spot on.

Corralejo Holiday Resort

The holiday resort of Corralejo is probably Fuerteventura‘s most well know holiday destination on the island. Having been built up from its roots as a small fishing village. Thankfully Corralejo hasn’t lost any of the charm of its youth as its grown and developed, and still has its attractive town centre and friendly atmosphere.

Caleta de Fuste Holiday Resort - Fuerteventura

Unlike Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste is one of Fuerteventura purpose built holiday resorts. The resort has many restaurants, bars and cafes. It is also known as El Castillo named after the resorts castle. Caleta de Fuste is popular with family holidays as its beach and bay shelves down gently making its shallows safer for the kids to play in the calm waters. Wind surfing, scuba diving and sailing can all be enjoyed too.

For the keen golfers that enjoy a round or two of golf during there holidays can take full advantage of Caleta de Fuste first golf course only finished in 2002! In fact the course it was the first on the island of Fuerteventura. I believe that another course is being built as well and would probably be finished some time at the end of 2006. The first course was a big success for the island and was proud to host the Spanish Open in 2004.

In terms of convenience of airport transfers, Caleta de Fuste could be considered as ideal. Being that the airport is located merely 5 miles or so away. This does mean that during the day you can hear some aeroplane noise. Only during the day mind as the airport doesn’t permit night time flights so that you can sleep undisturbed.
